HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

It is has arrived ready or not. I brought the new year in the way I usually do ASLEEP!!! I have never been a night owl and December 31st is no different.

This year my new year came in a little rocky. As this was my first official year to close the books for the year at work. So I was a little nervous on Monday. Stephenie helped me to move books and files around for the year. (Of course it was the money that did the really trick.)To top it all off the power went off to the building just I was about to do the back up. So it was dark inside and out so to home I went. To go back in on the 1st to run the back up. Thanks to my DST friends that helped with that. Then we moved an antique piano out of the house to the antique mall. THANKS to Renee and Steffen our good friends. We had some another friends with out heat and I had the parts and know how to fix it for them. Since it has finally gotten to be winter here they could not have made it thru the night with it being fixed. Then home to do payroll and hey I didn't see the 1st day of the year in at 12 am, I sure did the 2nd day. To bed at 1:30 and at 5:30 to walk in cold it was 16 degrees this morning.

Today I had a great SURPRISE from my boss Harry. He came in and told me that I need to take a couple of days off to relax and get refresh in the next couple of weeks. So I looked at the calendar and deiced that next Thursday and Friday will be the days since my birthday is on Thursday. As my buddies from DST have forbidden me to work and have shared the definition of a vacation day with me I will obey. I will create a lot. As for me this is true relation.

I will post my word for the year here today. This was first seem on Ali Edwards blog and then on my friend Marci's blog

2008's word is Simplicity - the state , quality or an instance of being simple

Simplicity - Decor in the house
Simplicity - Work
Simplicity - Art
Simplicity -Everyday life

It seems to me that if you find the simplicity of things and remove the excess life will go smother. I will see in 2008.

I want to focus on the SIMPLE things in life and take notice of the greatness and wonders GOD has in this world.

I wish you all a GREAT and SIMPLIFIED NEW YEAR!!!

ONE Week till .......

Where has December gone. It seems like just yesterday it was the 1st day of December. I don't even have my Christmas cards out yet. But hey I do have until January 6th,right isn't that day of Epiphany.

I just got home from the company Christmas party. It was a really great time. We went to Central Bar B Que. Only 2 people didn't come. I really enjoy getting with everyone from the other stores and their families. It is fun to have everyone's kids have got bigger and now we even watching the Gran dkids grow up. Harry was really great letting us have the party out.

Well I guess I better get busy and finish getting ready for Christmas. I have packages to wrap, meals to plan and shopping to complete all before next week.

Bird Shadow Box

Here is a little piece I did for a friend as a hostess gift. I have for the past four years spent the afternoon with our friends Steffen and Renee on Thanksgiving. I feel like I am part of the family. After we have breakfast and I get it cleaned up I get to go and have the traditional meal. I promise that next year I am going to learn the tricks to taking pictures with items that have glass in them. As you will notice my hands and camera are reflected in the glass. This stamp set is from one of my other favorite stamps companies Oxford Impressions.

RENT

Saturday Michael, Stephenie and I went to see the play RENT. Great performance. I can't believe I have kids that love the theater. As usual with the kids we had to eat lunch. They decided on Hooters. Micheal for the scenery LOL and Stephenie for fired dill pickles. We saw all of the cast walking down Beale street. I had a really great afternoon with the both of my babies. It has been a long time since I got to just hang out with the both of the babies.

AO Projects

This is shadow box that I made with Artist Outpost's Singing cowboy set. It is hard to take pictures with glass in them.

This is a tag that I did for a tag swap with Artist Outpost. Which is having a GREAT sale. This is the link http://www.artisticoutpost.com/. The great designs are to use and have many ways to use them. I have most them and have had a great time using them. What makes it even more exciting is knowing the great person behind the plates.

WISHING

Okay I know that it is in the middle of the day on Wednesday and I should be working. But the last couple of days my heart has not been at the office, but at home creating. I have so much I want to make and I am at my peak when I am at the office and not when I get home.

SO here is how I would like for a dream day to go:

  • Get up around 6:30
  • Go for my walk w/ my sister
  • Come home fix myself a cup of hot tea and some toast
  • Go to my studio and create until it's time for bed
  • Might fix myself something at some point durning the day

Okay back to the REAL world and back to work.

A Girl can always WISH.

Weekend of Art

This ia an altered post card that I did for a swap. I like the way it turned out. On the back it reads "Life is kinda laid back"

This is a Christmas tray that I made for a friend for her birthday. I hope that she likes it. I had a black tray that I painted with a dry brush using gold, then colleged paper of old christmas cards and then use black velvet letters for the saying.
I had a great weekend of time spent creating. I did a few other things, but didn't get pictues yet. I did a tag using Artist Outpost stamps that came wonderful. The rest of the week at night will be used to work with Artist Outpost stamps. I have a long list of things to complete by friday. Hopefully Robyn will like what I come up with. The stamps are great and very inspiring.
Will post more creations later. I have to try and find out what I can and can't post since alot of things are going to be submitted.

CLEAN DREAM and GREAT NEWS

Okay with a lot of help from Mom the house is FINALLY back to the clean state. After 4 years with dust from remolding and everything stuck where there was space to put it. I got up on Monday morning and had to pinch myself to make sure I was not dreaming and that I was in the right house. No bed in the hallway, rugs on the floor, dinning room table with nothing on it, kitchen clean, and wall paper up in the bathroom. Come Saturday and Sunday I am spending the WHOLE day in my new room CREATING!!!!!!!!!! I have several of things that need to be done. Tags for a ROTR swap, altered post cards and design team submissions. By the way I may not have mentioned it, but I was asked to be on the design team for a REALLY cool new stamp line. Robyn has some awesome stamp plates. If you are looking for some really neat new stamps check them out at http://www.artisticoutpost.com. I am looking forward to working with this great group of ladies to help get this great new stamp company off the ground. I just love being in on something so new and helping getting of the ground.

Well, I am suppose to be doing payroll and getting ready for bed, but wanted to post a small bit. I am hoping to post pictures later this week of the finished room and maybe a few of things.
